Agile Project Manager / Scrum Master
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Agile Project Manager / Scrum Master to lead and coach one or more cross-functional teams in delivering highquality products. You will own the health of the Agile process — facilitating ceremonies, removing impediments, and protecting the team's focus —
while keeping delivery aligned with business goals, timelines, and stakeholder expectations. This is a hands-on role for someone who balances
servant-leadership with practical project management.
Key Responsibilities
Agile Facilitation & Coaching
Facilitate all Scrum ceremonies: sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
Coach the team and the wider organization on Agile and Scrum principles, helping teams mature toward self-organization and
continuous improvement.
Foster a collaborative, transparent, and psychologically safe team culture.
Delivery & Project Management
Drive on-time, on-scope delivery across sprints and releases, tracking progress against commitments.
Maintain and communicate delivery metrics (velocity, burndown/burnup, cycle time, throughput) and use them to forecast and
improve.
Manage dependencies, risks, and issues across teams; escalate and resolve blockers quickly.
Coordinate planning across multiple teams or workstreams where needed (e.g., PI planning, scrum-of-scrums).
Stakeholder & Backlog Support
Partner with Product Owners to keep the backlog refined, prioritized, and ready for delivery.
Provide clear, regular status reporting to stakeholders and leadership.
Manage expectations around scope, timeline, and trade-offs, and communicate changes proactively.
Continuous Improvement
Identify process bottlenecks and lead initiatives to improve team efficiency and product quality.
Champion engineering and delivery best practices in collaboration with technical leads.
Track and act on retrospective outcomes to drive measurable improvement over time.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
4+ years of overall experience as a Project Manager, Scrum Master, or Agile delivery lead.
Strong working knowledge of Agile frameworks (Scrum, Kanban) and scaling approaches (SAFe, LeSS, or similar).
Proven ability to manage and deliver software projects with cross-functional teams.
Excellent facilitation, communication, conflict-resolution, and stakeholder-management skills.
Hands-on experience with Agile tooling such as Jira, Azure DevOps, or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
Certified ScrumMaster (CSM / PSM I or II), SAFe Scrum Master (SSM), or PMI-ACP certification.
PMP certification or equivalent traditional project-management experience.
Background in software development or a closely related technical domain.
Experience coaching distributed or multi-team environments.
Core Competencies
Servant leadership — puts the team first and leads by enabling others.
Organization — keeps complex, multi-stream work on track without losing detail.
Communication — translates clearly between technical teams and business stakeholders.
Problem-solving — anticipates risks and removes obstacles before they slow delivery.
Adaptability — adjusts approach to fit the team's maturity and the project's needs.
This is a customizable template. Adjust the responsibilities, years of experience, certifications, and competencies to match your
organization's seniority level, industry, and team structure.
