Senior Technical Project Manager
Position Overview
The Senior Technical Project Manager is responsible for leading and executing complex AWS cloud migration initiatives while ensuring successful delivery of customer environment upgrades for the HealthRules Customer Operations team. This role combines strategic cloud transformation leadership with hands-on project management to drive customer success through seamless technology transitions and environment upgrades.
Using defined Agile project management methodologies, this position requires a technical leader who will manage all aspects of AWS cloud migration delivery while maintaining excellence in customer environment upgrade management. The role involves managing cross-functional teams of infrastructure, customer success, customer support, and technical resources in a matrixed environment, with a strong focus on customer-facing interactions and relationship management.
Your Impact
Cloud Migration Leadership
- Strategic Migration Planning: Oversee comprehensive assessments of customer environments and document testing dependencies, technical requirements, and migration-specific changes for AWS cloud platform
- Customer Engagement: Partner with Customer Success executives and managers to develop and present AWS migration strategies to customers, translating complex technical concepts into clear, business-friendly language
- Migration Execution: Develop detailed AWS migration timelines in collaboration with customers and internal teams, ensuring proper resource allocation and scheduling
- Technical Coordination: Coordinate with internal technical teams including engineering, operations, product management, and security to ensure availability of required AWS resources for deployment and validation phases
- Issue Resolution: Triage customer-reported testing issues, provide escalation support for high-priority blocking issues, and facilitate rapid resolution to minimize customer impact
Project Management Excellence
- Partner with team and department leaders for delivery of both cloud migration and customer environment upgrade activities
- Provide accurate estimates and comprehensive project charter documentation for ongoing and new department initiatives
- Develop and manage overall program/project plans and timelines, including key milestones, dependencies, and progress tracking
- Identify and manage project risks and issues, driving resolution of roadblocks to keep programs on track
- Ensure project deliverables meet high quality standards, best practices, and customer requirements
- Communicate project status, risks, and issues to key stakeholders and executive leadership through regular updates and presentations
Organizational Leadership
- Demonstrate excellence in developing project plans and managing stakeholders, project teams, risks, schedules, and budgets
- Participate and contribute thought leadership to drive Customer Operations strategies
- Act as liaison between various internal organizations for project-based continuity
- Provide thought leadership on best practices to help scale and improve the organization
Process Improvement & Knowledge Management
- Capture lessons learned from each migration and customer environment upgrade to prevent recurring issues
- Develop and maintain AWS migration best practices and standard operating procedures
- Contribute to customer communication templates, FAQs, and knowledge base articles
- Monitor and report on migration progress across multiple customers
- Maintain detailed project documentation and status dashboards
What You Bring
Required Qualifications
- Education: BA/BS degree in a related field
- Experience: 8+ years of experience managing large-scale, enterprise-class, software delivery
- Team Leadership: Proven experience managing teams of 10+ resources within a matrixed environment
- Cloud Expertise: Demonstrated experience with AWS cloud migration projects, including assessment, planning, and execution phases
- Technical Acumen: Strong understanding of AWS platform, infrastructure components, and migration methodologies
- Customer-Facing Skills: Proven track record of direct customer engagement, relationship management, and translating technical concepts for business stakeholders
Technical Skills
- Project Management Tools: Solid understanding/experience with project management tools (Smartsheet preferred)
- Agile Methodologies: Experience managing projects using Scrum Agile software development framework
- AWS Technologies: Familiarity with AWS services, architecture, migration tools (AWS Migration Hub, Database Migration Service, Server Migration Service), and deployment strategies
- Risk Management: Proven ability to identify, assess, and mitigate technical and business risks
Industry Knowledge
- Healthcare Domain: Understanding of healthcare payor workflows including claims processing, benefits configuration, member enrollment, correspondence, medical management, and provider contracting
- Business Practices: Strong knowledge of industry business practices and value offerings
- Compliance: Experience with healthcare data security requirements (PHI/PII handling)
Leadership & Communication
- Customer-Centric Mindset: Strong customer service orientation with ability to build trust and maintain positive relationships throughout complex technical projects
- Stakeholder Management: Excellent communication skills with ability to present to executive leadership and facilitate customer buy-in through clear, consultative interactions
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Proven ability to work effectively across multiple departments and external customer organizations with a service-minded approach
- Change Management: Experience leading organizational change and technology transformation initiatives with focus on customer success
- Problem Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to make decisions under pressure while maintaining customer satisfaction
- Customer Advocacy: Demonstrated ability to serve as customer advocate internally while managing expectations and delivering realistic solutions
Preferred Qualifications
- Certifications: PMP certification, AWS certifications (AWS Certified Solutions Architect, AWS Certified Migration Professional, etc.) preferred
- Migration Tools: Experience with AWS-specific migration tools and platforms
- ITIL/Service Management: Familiarity with ITIL processes and service management frameworks

**The annual US base salary range for this position is $130,000 to $145,000. This salary range may cover multiple career levels at HealthEdge. Final compensation will be determined during the interview process and is based on a combination of factors including, but not limited to, your skills, experience, qualifications and education.
