Overview:

Technical Writer 1s a technical writer on our team, you'll partner with subject matter experts to create documentation that helps healthcare payers process claims accurately and efficiently. We're looking for someone who's organized, naturally curious, loves diving into research, and gets genuine satisfaction from mastering new domains. This role dives deep into healthcare policy and technology—you'll need to move quickly from understanding healthcare reimbursement policies to explaining how our software implements them, all while keeping content accurate and accessible.

Your work directly impacts our users who depend on clear documentation to make timely and accurate decisions for processing millions of dollars in healthcare claims daily. What you will do:

  • Translate complex healthcare policies and software functionality into accurate and user-friendly release notes, guides, UI copy, and reference materials.
  • Analyze and comprehend process flow diagrams and decision trees to document software logic.
  • Research and verify information against healthcare and technical resources to ensure documentation accuracy and build deep domain expertise.
  • Collaborate with developers, analysts, and subject matter experts throughout the documentation lifecycle, from requirements refinement through final reviews.
  • Proactively monitor project timelines and documentation needs within rapid release cycles, identifying gaps or potential issues before they impact deliverables.
  • Maintain existing documentation as products evolve, including updating procedures, screenshots, and reference materials.
  • Contribute to special projects when needed, including proofing, editing, and formatting content for internal and external users.

What you bring:

  • 4-year degree in technical writing, communications, journalism, English, or related field
  • 1–3 years of technical writing or comparable experience
  • Strong command of the English language—you write clearly, adapt your writing style for different audiences, and edit content for spelling, grammar, and mechanics
  • Collaborative mindset with excellent communication skills—you build trust and work effectively with diverse stakeholder groups across different time zones
  • Strong critical analysis skills and enthusiasm to learn—you enjoy researching, synthesizing complex and/or technical information, and translating topics into clear and concise written communication
  • Strong organizational skills and proactive ownership—you balance multiple priorities and shifting deadlines, track projects through completion, and know when to ask for guidance
  • Team-oriented mindset—you invest in building genuine relationships with teammates and believe the best work happens when people support each other

What’s nice to have:

  • Familiarity with the healthcare industry
  • Experience in an agile SDLC environment
  • Experience with Madcap Flare and/or familiarity with HTML and CSS
