The Data & Analytics team within Wellframe then is responsible for enabling the organization to execute its mission on the basis of facts and a reliable trustworthy set of data. It is comprised of a Data Engineering team, responsible for our data pipelines and the ETL of data we receive from our customers and data we send them, an Analytics Engineering team, responsible for a curated data warehouse with trustworthy, reliable data as well as our Looker dashboards, reports and other data products we deliver to our customers, and the Data Science team, responsible for the insights generated from the operational metrics we track and the value story we can share with our customers.

Role Overview

The Data Science team at Wellframe brings cutting-edge technologies to solve problems at the intersection of healthcare and technology. We work with large, multi-source datasets that include medical claims, mobile app, messaging and care management data. Our mission is to gain 360-degree insights into members’ lives both within and outside of the healthcare system, and to use these insights to build a better digital healthcare product that is tailored for specific member populations. Finally, we play a critical role in measuring the value Wellframe generates for our customers as well as their members. 

We are seeking a Senior Manager, Data Science to lead a team of Data Scientists, manage the steady stream of business insights-generating analysis projects as well as guide the development of cutting edge machine learning models (e.g. NLP driven message routing, member targeting for care programs) to be implemented in our product and offerings. While a large portion of the day-to-day activities will be focussed on managerial, project management and stakeholder management responsibilities, the Senior Manager, Data Science is still expected to contribute to individual projects, conduct code reviews and stay abreast with the technical developments in the field. 

Areas of Responsibility: 

• Data Science project and delivery management (50%)
• Oversee technical execution of multiple projects with occasional direct contributions to model development and analysis
• Develop story around analysis results (for insights projects)
• Create customer-ready slides to tell the story (for insights projects)
• Assure on-time delivery
• Conduct quality assurance and code reviews
• Stakeholder and analysis request management (20%)
• Work with various internal stakeholders to understand analysis goals and business requirements 
• Translate requirements into analysis plan
• Assign resources to projects and communicate delivery timeline 
• Advancement of our Data Science tool kit and tech stack (20%)
• Staying on top of latest model and library development
• Development of an MLOps strategy
• Guiding and/or building code foundation for implementation of the MLOps strategy
• People management and coordination with other D&A teams (10%)
• Regular development meetings with team members
• Team meetings

Education, Experience, & Skills Required [hard skills]:

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Healthcare Administration, Data Science, Analytics, Statistics, Computer Science or a related field required; Master's degree preferred.
• At least 3 years experience mentoring and leading Data Scientists.
• At least 5 years experience scoping and running Data Science projects 
• Project management experience in a consulting firm preferred
• Working experience with MLOps
• Hands-on experience with data science project management development life cycle
• Deep expertise in Python programming
• Deep knowledge of SQL and relational databases
• Experience with visualization tools such as Looker, Tableau, Power BI, etc.
• Experience working with product and/or agile teams
• Working experience with healthcare data (e.g. medical & pharmacy claims, billing & diagnosis codes) preferred
